Association of Independent Living Groups

Alumni Risk Management Advisor
Role Description

Thank you for taking on this commitment! The expectation is that the Alumni Risk Management Advisor will be a steady resource for her/his chapter and the undergraduate Risk Manager in particular. The program is designed to provide you direct access and knowledge of MIT resources, as well as regular opportunities to meet & discuss issues with MIT staff from the Division of Student Life, the Medical Department, and Campus Police.

Each Advisor is asked to do the following:

1. Attend Discussion group sessions at MIT for all Alumni Risk Advisors
Fall Term dates:

If you would like to suggest a topic, please send this form to any MIT staff member listed at the end.

2. Attend, if possible, a social host/server training

These are held several times during the year and the Dean Danny Trujillo will advise of dates/times. Attendance at the social host/server training program not only informs the Advisor about today’s responsibilities but also allows alumni to help tailor the program.

3. Schedule individual meetings as desired with MIT staff

Please feel free contact any of the people below. If you'd like help making connection with MIT Staff person, please look them up on-line or get in touch with Bob Ferrara or Marlena Martinez and they will help. In particular, fraternity advisors are encouraged to meet with Dean Danny Trujillo

4. Attend one meeting with the chapter Alumni Corporation and/or Advisory Board

Each Advisor should stay connected to the alumni leadership of the chapter also, so we ask that there at least be an annual check in with the Corporation or Advisory Board.

5. And seek and offer guidance from MIT staff & fellow Alumni Risk Management Advisors

Advisors should not be bashful about asking for help or thinking partners with MIT staff or peers. A special e-mail list has been set up for the group, called alumadvisor (at) mit.edu. The complete list of Advisors is listed here.

6. At the completion of the academic year, a brief report is requested. Here is the template both in WORD and PDF formats.

Each Advisor who commits to completing this program will be provided an advance of $125 per term starting in Fall, 2008 to fund their expenses associated with the program (such as dinners with the chapter risk manager). To become involved, please contact any of the people listed below.
